Sheyda Azimi, PhD.

Our long-term research goal is to develop frameworks to monitor and understand the changes in microbial interactions that shape the  microbiogeography of infection and, host immune responses during chronic infections. As a mentor I aim to advocate for my trainees and provide the support and training strategies for their success.

Joshua Lummus
Josh is a PhD student in Biology program at GSU. He has a MS in Integrative Biology from Kennesaw State University where he studied predatory interactions between the micropredator Myxococcus xanthus and its prey. He is interested in microbial community dynamics and evolution, polymicrobial and intraspecies interactions in situ. He enjoys playing guitar, woodworking, herping, and traveling with his wife and family.

Hannah Fraser
Hannah is a PhD student in Biology program. She completed her MS in our lab at GSU. She is interested in learning how microbes interact with each other as well as with their host, with a special interest in T6SS. Hannah enjoys reading, making different crafts, and running when she's not in the lab.

Aaron Carreno-Alfaro

Aaron is a physician–scientist trainee with an M.D., with previous clinical research experience on secondary infections in sepsis patients and developing host-response classifiers to improve patient outcomes. He is currently pursuing an M.S. in Biotechnology at GSU.

Zicheng Duan
Zicheng is a third year Biology student (3+1/2+2
Collaborative international Program) at the Honors College. He is interested in the ecology of microbial populations and understanding the mechanisms of pathogenesis.
